spokepovIt’s April which, in the New World Weather Order means that it’s basically the height of summertime here in the UK right now.

This means I get to go cycling in the woods near my house of an evening, marveling at the shadow kites cast by the evening sun shone through treetops, while simultaneously cowering every time a branch cracks or a bush rustles nearby.

However, a chance stumble upon this kick-ass Spoke POV kit today might solve my feral cat-induced fears. The 30 LEDs on each side of the wheel provide 256 radial pixels which, in layman’s terms, is the exact number of pixels one needs to make Pinky, Blinky, Inky or Clyde apparate in your bike’s wheels.

(Shameful admission: I had to pop to Pacman’s wiki page to look that up because I forgot Inky’s name, but, on the plus side I got to learn the original Japanese nicknames while doing so: Akabei, Aosuke, Guzuta and, um, Pinky…).

Actually, thinking about this for a moment, this whole big cat evasion solution will only work if:

1. Feral big cats are afraid of ghosts
2. Feral big cats lack even a rudimentary understanding of the Pacman rule set, namely that a blue ghost is always an edible ghost.

Knowing my luck the feral big cats near my house were once owned by Billy Mitchell (this one not that one) and, to them, the sight of a shimmering blue Pacman ghost is as much a culinary siren call as the approaching tinkle of an ice cream van’s music box is to a 5-year-old. :(
