Best Thing I Saw Today #24: Iron Man credits

Yesterday’s leftfield is today’s mainstream as Danny Yount’s awesome Rez/ Cosmic Smash-style end credit sequence for current Hollywood blockbuster Iron Man proves.

The sparse, schematic visuals are made vibrant and interesting by the shakeyfast camera work and what would have been a sterlie, clinical sequence is given grit by the graphical aretfacts that overlay the whole piece.

The red neon sign font draws attention to the names without overpowering the background and, when everything finally blooms from mellow orange into technicolor Tron, the effect is spectacular.

Of course, it’s a shame it had to be soundtracked by Black Sabbath and not, say, Philip Glass, but I’m sure that wasn’t Prologue‘s decision.
